Man Eating Chinese Food
Want to lose weight? Stuck on deciding which diet to go with? According to the latest study published in the New England Journal of Medicine it doesn't really matter which diet you choose to go with as long as you choose one and stick to it. The study, Comparison of Weight-Loss Diets with Different Compositions of Fat, Protein, and Carbohydrates (whew that is a long title!), all participants of the different diets tried lost and average of 6kgs in 6 months though and by the end of the study (2 years) those that stayed on lost more than 10% of their original body weight. dogrunHaving a dog takes a lot of responsibility and of course cost with food, care and the occasional vet emergency. It can also be a good addition to your health regimen for as we all know, jogging and even walking has the benefit of getting your heart into shape. The daily walks required by dogs for exercise can be turned into a workout on its own and why not benefit from the pooch while he gets his daily dose. Bigger dogs require more exercise for their bodies like ours have specific muscles that atrophy when not used. Woman checking glucose level
New studies have shown that pregnant women and new mothers that have diabetes are in far greater risk for developing post partum depression (PPD). Though the reason for the higher risk is not yet exactly known what is known is that out of 11,000 women who were enrolled in New Jersey’s Medicaid program 15.2 percent of those that had diabetes became depressed during pregnancy or up to a year after birth. The percentage of diabetic women who did not suffer from postpartum depression is significantly lower at only 8.5 percent. What this means for expectant mothers is that if routine diabetes tests give you a positive result you should also discuss with your doctor the possibility of post partum depression and ways to prevent and manage problem. This ...

Dental hygienist showing patient how to brush correctly
Oral hygiene is very important but most of the times we do not pay that much attention to it. Sure everyone brushes their teeth but do you brush your teeth properly? According to dentists when you brush your teeth you should: Have your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to your mouth. No need to measure but just make sure you angle your toothbrush. Brush your teeth for at least 3 minutes. That means the hurried brushing each morning before rushing off to work is not enough! And you wonder why you have cavities and your breath still stinks doesn't smell that great. Brush in a circular motion. Up and down is not the way to go. I know that's the way most of us ...

According to Oxford University researchers women that drank more than 2 alcoholic beverages a week increases their risk by 2% while those that had 7 to 14 drinks a week increased their cancer ...
