I find that ecchinacea works wonders and if you think you're heading the way of a cold, then taking it a few times a day helps...whether that's psychological or not, who knows!

I read an interesting article on the common cold which says that hygeine is more important and that vitamin supplements actually do little to ward off colds...

I've always been suspicious of those who advise high doses of vitamin C when really, we can get a lot of that from fruit and the food we eat rather than artificial (and often saccharin-pumped) fizzy supplements...
The article I'm talking about is at the following address:
http://www.foodeu.com/articles/Basic+Hygeine+More+Effective+Than+Vitamin+C.aspx

Hope this is useful!

I'm a believer of exercise and taking Vitamin C daily. Exercise can ward off a lot of health problems and it's a wonderful stress reliever. Unfortunately, I do have a cold...not exactly the runny nose kind, but the kind that has settled in my chest. Vigorous exercise will produce a violent cough attack so I'm sticking with walking for the time being.
