Exercise and Booze – the Keys to Long Life

Doesn’t that just sound perfect? Booze can actually help lengthen your life? Of course, you cannot take out the other part of the equation – exercise. According to a recent study done by Danish researchers., people who exercise regularly and drink moderately have significantly lower risks of getting heart disease.

The researchers say:

Physical activity and a moderate alcohol intake can lower the risk of fatal heart disease and all-cause mortality. But neither physical activity alone nor alcohol intake can completely reverse the increased risk associated with physical inactivity and alcohol abstention. Thus, both physical activity and alcohol intake are important to lower the risk of fatal heart disease and all-cause mortality.

Take note that the combination is important – one cannot justify his drinking (without exercise) with this study, sorry.

Then again, this is something that has been known to many for quite some time. Doctors have routinely suggested moderate alcohol intake to help the heart. The factors of exercise, proper diet, adequate sleep, and so on have always been part of a good lifestyle that helps lengthen one’s life span.

Though the conclusions gleaned from the study are not that revolutionary, it is always good to be reminded of the things and activities that we could do and engage in in order to be healthier. The key, I suppose, is moderation in everything. We have to have a balance between the various aspects of our lives and try to live a healthy life the best we can.

Cheers!
