The hair is one of the most well taken care of parts of the human body. Without it, people will look dull and unattractive.
Women, in particular, are very conscious of their hair. As kids normally around the age of 7 or 8, they tend to have a certain attitude showing how they value their crowning glory. At this young age, they already have a personal preference for the length and style of hair they want to maintain moving onwards. Unfortunately as they grow into adults, they expose their mane to various treatments from blow drying, perming, relaxing and coloring which can increase the risk of hair fall and other problems.
Men, on the other hand, tend to worry about their hair only when they notice a receding forehead or thinning hair in the back part of the head.
It’s only then that they take action and find a way to prevent further hair loss.
Today, there are so many products that promise to prevent hair fall or promote hair growth. It can be a huge challenge to select one that will solve one’s issue. Medical treatments available also vary and continue to advance.
We share here some of the effective hair treatments that might help cure the problem or prevent it from worsening.
Supplements and Medications
Taking in certain types of supplements has been found effective in preventing hair loss. An example is the PK4Hair, a protein as well as multi-vitamin and mineral supplement.
Iron storage called Ferritin is also very important. Maintaining an adequate level of iron helps improve hair growth. The same is true with Vitamin B12.
As for medication, only minoxidil and Finasteride have been used to avert hair loss among both men and women. Minoxidil is in liquid or foam form that can be bought over the counter while Finasteride is a pill taken daily and prescribed for males experiencing baldness.
Surgical procedures are another option. These include hair transplants and scalp reduction, both of which are expensive treatments.
The transplant normally involves removal of tiny plugs of skin with some hair and then transplanting them in the bald areas of the scalp. Several sessions are required to ensure hair growth.
The scalp reduction process, on the other hand, removes the bald skin on the head and then covered with a scalp with hair. The procedure may also involve a flap or the folding of skin with hair over a bald section.
Maintaining proper nutrition is one sure way of improving a person’s hair health. Consuming a protein-rich meal on a daily basis is very important. This should include meat, beans, nuts, eggs, and fish.
Staying away from stress is as vital. Whether it’s physical or emotional stress you’re experiencing, one must find a way to hurdle it because the more you worry, the more hair you’re likely to lose.
Going organic is another great option. This can be done by using common kitchen ingredients and certain plants such as coconut milk, aloe vera, onion and garlic and even egg.
Meanwhile, a new study from the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Dermatology has found a link between a person’s immune system and the ability to regrow the hair follicles. The researchers found that the immune system has certain gamma-delta T cells that produce a protein known as the Fgf9 (fibroblast growth factor 9). This specific cell is responsible for the growth of hair follicles based on their study involving mice.
The scientists noted that with this development, it is possible to come up with new anti-hair loss treatments among humans.
Protein is vital in strengthening hair and promoting its healthy growth. This should be present in one’s daily diet through the inclusion of meat or a combination of beans and dairy products.
