Radiation Hazards from DirecTV Dish

February 28, 2023 By Doc Sawyer

On a daily basis, people are exposed to different types of radiation. It’s either from the television, radio, mobile phone or signals from the GPS. Radiation passes through the human body and certain types pose hazards to the health of a person.

Electromagnetic radiation, in particular, has been in existence since the universe was created. Its most common form is the light. In our natural environment, electromagnetic fields can be found everywhere but cannot be seen by the human eye.

Specific electromagnetic radiation forms have an adverse effect on human health as reported by the World Health Organization. They are believed to be among the causes of cancer. Examples of this are the electromagnetic waves emitted by a microwave oven, an x-ray machine, gamma rays, cell phones, power lines and transmission towers.

Reduce Your Risk Of Cancer – Top 10 Tips

February 28, 2023 By Charlie

Eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. These contain antioxidants that reduce your cancer risk. Consuming fewer animal fats will reduce your exposure to organic pollutants and saturated fats.

Reduce the number of man-made perfumes or deodorants you apply to your body. They all contain chemicals in small amounts but regular heavy use can lead to the accumulation of these chemicals in the body.

Get your tap water independently checked to see what kind of chemicals are in your drinking water. Use some kind of filter system for your drinking water to remove the trace chemicals from your water left behind by the treatment process.

Don’t smoke tobacco. Studies by the California Air Resources Board concluded that younger, pre-menopausal women exposed to secondhand smoke have an increased risk of breast cancer.

Drink alcohol in moderation, excess consumption affects your liver and can cause depression. Wine is probably the healthiest option compared to beer or spirits but it should be consumed with food.

Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight puts a lot of stress on the organs in the body and on the joints. You are more prone to diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and osteo-arthritis when you are overweight.

Avoid prolonged use of any prescription drugs or oral contraceptives because these are associated with an increased risk of serious side effects such as breast cancer in the case of contraceptives.

Reduce exposure to toxic pesticides by eating organic food and avoiding synthetic weed- and insect-killers. Also use more environmentally friendly cleaning agents in your house avoid using strong bleaches and chemicals.

Get some exercise. Just 30-40 minutes a day is better than nothing. You don’t have to go to a gym, just walking or cycling would help to keep the heart healthy.

Is Soy Really Good For You?

February 28, 2023 By Charlie

istock_photo_of_soy_foodsSoy is great for you. It can fight cancer. No, soy can be bad for you, especially if you’re a guy. It can lead to growth of breasts or lower testosterone levels. These are some of the conflicting statements about soy and its by products. But what is the low down on soy? Is it really good for you or not?

According to Karen Collins, M.S., R.D., C.D.:

A study of children fed soy protein formula for more than six months showed no hormonal effects. A study of men in their 50s and 60s found that the men who ate soy foods twice a day for three months showed no change in testosterone levels, but had a 14 percent drop in levels of PSA (an indicator of prostate growth used in screening for prostate cancer).

She goes on to say that all the noise about the negative effects of soy on men is actually NOT based on sound scientific research. However, she also says that the idea that soy and other soy based products can prevent prostate cancer has NOT really been proven yet.

Another interesting thing that Collins points out is how different types of soy products can have different effects:

Fermentation may change how easily our bodies absorb isoflavones, which means that fermented soy foods (miso, tempeh, natto) may have a different effect on prostate cancer risk than non-fermented soy foods (soy milk, tofu and edamame). Some studies suggest that the effect of soy foods may depend on its interaction with other food compounds; the lycopene from tomatoes is one such interaction under study.

The bottom line is that you SHOULDN’T fear soy foods. If you like it, go ahead and eat it!
