The Christmas season is perhaps the toughest part of the year when it comes to weight management and overall fitness in general. Think about all the cooking, eating, drinking, and partying that you will be doing in the next weeks and you will totally understand what I mean. Year in and year out, this has been an issue with most everybody. How do you enjoy the holidays without losing everything that you have worked for – weight wise?
If there is one thing I could tell you, it is this – do not force it. I mean, do not try to go on a strict diet during this period. It is hopeless, I tell you. Unless you have the will power of a saint, you will just end up losing the battle and probably make things worse. That is, unless you are planning to closet yourself up for the holidays and not interact with anyone – even this is not a guarantee!
So what should you do instead? I suggest being realistic about the situation and accepting that your strict diet will not probably be applicable at this point. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Instead, keep a level head and maintain the proper perspective. This is a period for enjoying yourself – why should you deprive yourself of everything?
Why not allow yourself to indulge here and there but always keeping in mind that moderation is the key. Allow yourself to eat and drink but bear in mind a specific, but realistic, goal – to maintain your current weight.
