I have always liked vegetables – that is something that our mother made sure of. Even as children, we would not feel that a meal is complete without some sort of vegetable to go with the meat. Now, as an adult, I still have this craving for at least a small portion of veggies when eating.
With health being in the forefront of personal issues these days, it is not a surprise that you see people eating salads with their meals more often. Indeed, I have noticed that a lot of my colleagues at work eat salad every day. Well I suppose that the old idea of munching on green leafy food is boring is long gone.
Today, you can discover a lot of ways to eat healthily and still have an interesting meal. Come to think of it, you can mix anything with greens and make a salad – your imagination and sense of adventure is the limit! My current favorite is simple – just some iceberg lettuce, sliced cucumber, apples, carrots, and a little bit of cheddar cheese. For the dressing, I found this really good mango vinaigrette at the supermarket. Of course, what you put in your salad – from fruits to vegetables to the dressing, really depends on you.
If you are unsure as to what to put together, why not check out Salads Abound, which is to be released by Food4Health. They have a whole assortment of ideas for salads, the ingredients of which can be found at the local supermarkets. It’s a good way to start your salad habit.
