There is no better time to get a hangover than during the holidays, am I right? Even though you may not intend to drink too much, you just sort of get caught up in the festivities and before you know it, you have had a drink too many. Of course, that is still fun. The morning after is a different story. So how do you deal with a hangover?
Different people have their own tested and proven cures although science says that there is no conclusive evidence as to how hangovers can be cured. However, there are things that you can do to help alleviate the indicators of a hangover.
I suppose the best thing to do would be to drink moderately. If you can’t help it – I don’t blame you – then here are a few things you could try.
Prevention is key – drink lots of water before going to a party. This will help avoid dehydration that alcohol brings about. Also, make sure that you have something in your stomach before you drink. More so, mix your drinks with tomato juice and nibble on food that is rich on protein throughout the night. This will hinder alcohol absorption.
Avoid drinks that have too much fizz in them. You may not be aware of it but carbon dioxide makes you absorb more alcohol – and faster.
Thinking of the hair of the dog? I suggest you don’t – this only delays the worst symptoms of a hangover. What you could do instead is sit it out, take some aspirin for your headache and get your blood sugar up by eating breakfast (or lunch for that matter).
Cheers!
