While most people are rightly concerned about the food they’re putting into their bodies and using to fuel themselves, many people don’t think about how the things they’re drinking could be harming them as well. In today’s society, so many people consume a major portion of their daily calorie intake through various beverages. However, most of these beverages gives little, if any, nutrition or benefit to your body. And while we all know binging on things like alcohol isn’t good for us, there are so many other beverages that are dangerous as well. So to help you start looking and feeling even better, here are three beverages you should cut back on to begin improving your overall health.
Fancy Coffee Beverages
Although coffee in an of itself isn’t necessarily bad for you, getting those fancy, sugary coffee drinks aren’t the best way for you to be starting off your day each morning. According to Jessica Migala, a contributor to Health.com, many of the fancy coffee drinks that people love to get at their favorite coffee shop have a ridiculous amount of calories and sugar in them. While some of the sugar comes from the milk added to the coffee, most of it comes from the chocolate, caramel, syrups, and other sugar that gets added in. And while this makes your drink delicious, it also makes it very bad for your body.
Any Type Of “Juice”
Somehow, juice got a reputation of being good for people to drink on a consistent basis. However, juice is definitely not as healthy or nutritious as people might want to believe, especially when it comes to giving it to their kids. According to Jaclyn London, a contributor to GoodHousekeeping.com, most juices, even if they’re freshly squeezed, are just containing the sugar of the fruit or vegetable and none of the fiber. But when you eat fruit, it’s the fiber of that fruit that helps counterbalance all the natural sugar you’re also eating. So rather than giving your kids fruit juice, have them just eat a piece of fruit or put a slice of fruit in water to give it a little extra flavor.
Pop, Soda, and Soft Drinks
One of the worst things that people drink a large amount of on a daily basis is soda pop and soft drinks. According to WebMD.com, people who drink one or two servings of soda a day are much more likely to be overweight and develop diseases like diabetes and heart disease. This is because of the amount of sugar and chemicals found in all soft drinks. If you can’t stop drinking these beverages, at least try to drink less each day.
To help get yourself on a path to health, consider quitting drinking all of the above mentioned beverages.
