Health is wealth the reason why every individual should strive hard to eat right, exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle. Thankfully, a growing number of people are making an effort today to achieve this goal.
What’s unfortunate is that sometimes despite the knowledge that we have and the efforts that we make, certain things continue to be forgotten or taken for granted. Many women are guilty of this so it’s about time to get rid of those bad habits to enjoy a better life.
Sleeping with Makeup On
Women tend to forget this sometimes particularly after coming home tired very late at night. But it’s never a good habit to go to bed with your makeup on. It will not only cause pimples and other skin irratations but clogged pores and bacteria growing on your face in the long term when this keeps going on.
So always remember to remove any makeup before sleeping. Don’t forget the mascara as well as this can lead to swelling of the eyes.
Changing Shoes at Work
Many women are guilty of wearing their flats to and from work and then change into their heeled shoes upon arriving at the office. Flats, however, are not advisable as they don’t provide cushioning or stability. Wearing them often can lead to plantar fasciitis as well as inflammation of the thick tissue on the sole.
Wearing athletic shoes to and from work is more ideal because they provide more support to the feet. It would also help if you invest in quality insoles for high heels for proper cushioning.
Wearing Contacts to Sleep
Sleeping with your contacts on is a big no-no. If you do so, you’ll surely get infections particularly of the cornea as well as papillary conjunctivitis which can lead to an allergic reaction to wearing contact lenses. The risk can increase from 300 to 1,000 percent and at its worst, you may need to get a cornea transplant.
So even though you come home very late at night or early in the morning, always find time to remove your contacts and put them in a disinfectant solution. This way, you avoid bacteria buildup and eye problems moving forward.
Sitting Too Long at Work
Long hours of sitting at your desk is a risky habit. Because there’s no exercise involved, it can cause health issues including heart disease and diabetes.
If you’re prone to working at your desk every day, what you can do is stand up every now and then and walk around the office. This habit is better in improving your back and posture.
Not Flossing Every Day
Not flossing is another big mistake. It not only causes cavities but it can also result in gum disease and even tooth loss. Health experts point out that the goal of flossing is to prevent bacteria from growing in between your teeth.
Before flossing, brushing should first be done. The right way of brushing is always down and away from the gum area. After brushing your teeth or better yet before you go to sleep, it is always best to floss.
