Especially if youâ€™re in the break zone, where the waves are crashing onto the beach, you can easily get knocked down and slammed into the ground below, causing all sorts of injuries. Because of this, itâ€™s important to be extra careful when getting in and out of the water as you go through the break zone.
Protect Yourself From The Sun
The water isnâ€™t the only thing that you should be worried about when it comes to sustaining injuries while at the beach. The sun can be just as painful and damaging if you donâ€™t take the proper precautions during the day.
Ideally, Dr. Daniel Fien, a contributor to U.S. News and World Report, shares that youâ€™d avoid being in the sun during the hottest part of the day, as this is when youâ€™re most likely to get sunburned and sustain UV damage to your eyes. When you are out in the sun, make sure you have access to shaded areas, that youâ€™re wearing the right amount of sunscreen, and that youâ€™re keeping yourself hydrated.
Steer Clear Of Ocean Life
Whether youâ€™re playing on the beach or splashing in the water, itâ€™s wise to steer clear of any ocean life that could cause you harm or injury.
According to Kate Morin, this usually includes things like sharks, barnacles, muscles, crabs, clams, and jellyfish. While it might be fun to see these animals, itâ€™s best if you give them a wide berth so you donâ€™t wind up getting bitten, scratched, stung, or pinched.
