Why You Should Be Wearing Sunglasses

September 8, 2016 By John Jones

According to Monji Optometry, you should wear sunglasses, even if it’s just for comfort. Maybe you don’t feel like the sun bothers you eyes all that much, but protection between those UV rays and your eyes could even save your future vision. You don’t have to have prescription glasses, but if you need a prescription they can be a convenient addition to your eyeglass collection.

It never hurts to have a backup pair of sunglasses on hand, prescription or not. Keep a pair in your vehicle so you have some on hand, just in case you forget to grab your normal pair when you’re heading out the door. Or, this is also good if when you leave the sky is overcast, but it doesn’t stay that way.

Sunglasses For Everyone

Even little eyes need sun protection. For adults, your eyes can somewhat filter those UV rays, even when you aren’t protecting your eyes with sunglasses. However, the younger you are the less your eyes will do this for you, making sunglasses even more important for kids and teens.

The key to buying sunglasses is to make sure you’re not just simply getting tinted lenses. You want them to actually have UV protection. If you spend a lot of time doing sports, and even fishing, you also may want polarized lenses which will help you see clearer.

Picking The Right Pair

You need those sunglasses to be protecting your eyes from the sun, so if you are picking a pair that are tiny and fashionable they may not be doing the work you want them to. The bigger the better, since they will give you more coverage for protecting your vision.

If you have prescription glasses and you don’t want to have to buy a completely different pair of prescription sunglasses, find out if your particular frames have a clip on available. You can sometimes find universal sunglasses clip ons for different shapes of glasses and frame types.

Damage To Your Eyes From The Sun

Not only do you risk damage to your eyesight by not wearing sunglasses or some sort of eye protection from the sunlight, but you also risk getting cancer in your eyes and even on your eyelids. The skin on your eyelids is very thin and delicate, and susceptible to cancer just like the skin all over your body.

You can add extra protection by wearing a hat with a rim when you are spending a lot of time out in the sunshine. You may even want to put some sunscreen on your eyelids. But never forget to wear your sunglasses.

Sunglasses are needed all year around, as well. The sun still shines in the winter. Plus, the reflection off the snow from the sunlight can be extra painful to people with sun sensitive eyes.

Why You Should Get A Facial Every Once In Awhile

September 2, 2016 By John Jones

If you’ve never gotten a facial, or even given yourself one, you are really missing out on something awesome. Facials are not just good for your skin, but they are good for your soul too. You don’t even have to have a special reason to get one done.

While you may want to get a facial done to help combat wrinkles or age spots, you could also consider getting one done as simply a way to help you relax. Here are some great reasons to get a facial, luxury or not, and how you can achieve the relaxation of a facial from the comfort of your own home.

Fighting Acne

If you are battling with acne in adulthood you already know what a pain it can be. Not only is it annoying, but it can also literally be painful However, there are facials that can help you balance your skin and fight acne. If you go to a salon for a facial let them know you want something that can help with your acne.

If you are doing a facial at home, pick something that has tea tree oil in it, which is great for battling acne. You could also make your own acne blasting facial using tea tree oil with a carrier oil, and maybe even adding something soothing like lavender oil.

Dealing With Dry Skin

If you have dry skin certain times of the year can be painful for you. If you swim a lot in the summer it can make your skin even dryer. And, the winter chill will make it almost unbearable for your skin. Getting a moisturizing facial can help.

If you want to simply do this at home there are a couple things in your kitchen that can really help smooth and hydrate your dry skin. Those things are eggs and honey. Do a little research and find some homemade facial recipes that will let you use natural things in your kitchen to help your face feel better.

If your skin is itchy too you can add some oatmeal to your facial. It will naturally help take the itch away.

Make It Relaxing

Your facial shouldn’t just help your skin. It should also help you relax and feel better about yourself. You can get this added benefit simply from playing some relaxing music while you spend time lying down letting your facial sink into your skin. Most facials will need to be left on for fifteen to twenty minutes.

The essential oils you add to the mix will not only help your skin, but the scents can help you relax as well. Lavender is extremely relaxing. You can also pick scents that make you feel good or remind you of childhood happiness.
